The symbols can be used in a number of ways, including whatever way feels right to you. Don't feel the need to follow this list exclusively - if there is a way your intuition is urging you to use the symbols, then by all means, use it. Also feel free to adjust any of the suggestions below to suit your needs.
It is a good idea to 'charge' the symbols before using them. This can be done when they are drawn on paper by holding them in your hand and imagining the symbol filling with white or blue light.
