JON-QUI-LOW is not only a combination of our names, it is also a combination of like minds who are committed to breeding beautiful Lowchens of correct type with wonderful temperaments. We firmly believe that to achieve Quality, you must begin with Quality - our motto is: "Where Quality is Not Achieved by Chance". Our first step in achieving this was to go to England to buy the best foundation stock we could and in 1997 we imported our first joint owned Lowchen - Bigglesmere's Liv'n Doll - known as Livvy, bred by Peter Scarth and Mick Gaunt. Livvy is a daughter of the record breaking English Lowchen - Ch.Beaulion Brahms n' List (Mozart) - Mozart is the only Lowchen ever to have won three consecutive C.C.'s at Crufts, and he holds the U.K. record for the number of C.C.'s won at championship shows. In the following year our second import - Bigglesmere's Jolly Swagman - known as Banjo, arrived from the UK. Banjo is the grandson of Ch.Beaulion Brahms n' List. At this time we were fortunate to obtain a beautiful Australian bred bitch to compliment them - Jayzer Cozette - known as Mo-mo. From these early beginnings we have established a reputation for producing breed "type" and excellent temperaments of which we are extremely proud. We have enjoyed the support and advice of several well known breed specialists and, of course, the Bigglesmere team in the U.K. In April 2000, April 2001 and November 2001 Jonquilow bred dogs won the prestigous Best in Specialty Show & Runner Up Best in Specialty Show awards at the Lowchen Club of N.S.W. shows. On two occasions these shows were judged by Breed Specialist judges, each with over 25 years experience in the breed. At Jonquilow
the health of our dogs is as important as our success in competition.
In order to ensure that the dogs we produce are sound and healthy we have
begun a comprehensive testing programme. All dogs owned by us, or puppies
bred at Jonquilow are tested for Luxating patellas and PRA (at the appropriate
age). Only those that are Veterinary Certified clear of Luxating Patellas,
Hip Dysplasia and P.R.A.are considered for breeding or exhibition. BAER
testing to exclude hearing problems will commence shortly.
Banjo, Mo-mo and Livvy formed a wonderful start to our breeding programme, exhibiting classic Lowchen type and temperament. They gave us the basis for our breeding programme, and all three successfully achieved their Australian Championship titles. Early in 1999 we began our plans to breed Banjo, Livvy and Mo-Mo, however, we were unprepared for the wonderful results that these three would achieve for us in their first litters.
