What is QUAD-SURFACE ?
One of the most challenging problems in the modern engineering is conversion of geometric data produced by CAD systems, to finite element meshes acceptable for further analysis. Thin shells and plates of complex shapes comprise very large proportion of structures arising in the engineering practice, and accurate FEA analysis of stresses and dispacements is required even for objects of simplest shapes. For that reason, a quality mesh generator allowing 100% quadrilateral meshing of surfaces in 3D represents a necessary part of any commercial-quality finite element analysis system.
QUAD-SURFACE was developed to directly address that problem; it is the newest addition to the full range of our state-of-the- art quadrilateral mesh generation products. For complex, real-life surfaces in 3D, it allows generation of very high quality quadrilateral meshes. In turn, the latter will guarantee that the consequent Finite Element Analysis delivers excellent numerical results.
In terms of input data preparation, the major advantage of QUAD-SURFACE is that its data format and corresponding internal structures allow description of highly complex designs as arbitrary combinations of flat components, parts of cylinders and/or spheres, surfaces of revolution and, most importantly, general-case three- and four-edged patches.
At the same time, the data structures are simple and natural, allowing straightforward incorporation of QUAD-SURFACE into full-scale FEA systems. The processing is fully automatic: no user interference is required during the meshing process, regardless of the actual complexity of particular input data.
QUAD-SURFACE is available in the complete source code form, on no-royalties and no-annual- renewals basis: there is a one-off price for the unlimited commercial license.
