The performer is caught between two seta of texts (i/it).Onepair of texts is recorded (split L & R on tape). The other pair is written (split L & R) on paper. The performer listens to the aural texts while reading the written texts & must generate a 3rd text simultaneously. The performer is subjct to multiple fields of potential engagement as different dimensions of inscription & notation are ignited & overlaid.   Australia's Australia.

Since the late 1970's, Sydney based poet, Amanda Stewart has created a variety of poetic texts, performances, radio, film and video works in Australia, Japan, the US and Europe. From 1983 - 1993 she worked full time at the ABC in Sydney as a producer in Radio Documentaries and Audio Arts. During this period she was awarded a UN Association of Australia Media Peace Prize citation for her Background Briefing documentary, Atomic Language and in 1988 an Ake Blomstrom Memorial Grant from Radio Sweden, In 1990, with Nicolette Freeman she co-wrote and directed the award-winning documentary film, Eclipse of the Man-Made Sun which analyses the language of the nuclear arms and energy industry from 1945 - 1990,


In 1989 she co-founded the Australian ensemble, Machine For Making Sense, with Jim Denley, Stevie Wishort, Chris Mann and Rik Rue, whom she continues to collaborate with as well as other artists including Anne La Berge and Jim meneses in the Amsterdam/Sydney trio, Atics. She currently works as a freelance writer/performer. In I 996 she completed f wo solo tours of Furope performing in the Geneva Festival and the Solo Festival in Switzerland as well as festivals in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic and Slovakia and in 1997 returned for a further series of solo concerts as well as performances with Machine For Makin_q.Sense. and Allos. In 1997, her opera with composer, Colin Bright, The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior, was staged on Sydney horbour as part of the Sydney Festival. A new CD/Book of her selected solo works will be released in 1997.
